Ceglie Messapica
This beautiful town is located on the Murgia at 11 km from Ostuni. Its name come from “Caelia” a Messapic town turned during the centuries into a medieval town. The historic centre still preserve is early beauty and its characteristic oriental aspect. Very interesting is the Castel built in the 500 century from the Sanseverino dukes. Near the Castel is the Matrice Church built in the 1521. In the surroundings of Ceglie Messapica are located the Montevicoli Caves and the Cript of San Michele which preserves olds interesting paintings of the byzantine edge.
