Cisternino

Cisternino is located on the Murgia hills and with Martina Franca and Locorotondo forms the territory of the Valle d’Itria. Its origins are messapic and it has a characteristic historic centre with its arabic atmosphere, rich in white houses and small stone little streets. Among the most important buildings very significant is the Torre Quadrangolare, dated back to the norman period. Very important are also the Chiesa di San Cataldo, the Chiesa di San Quirico and the santuario di S. Maria d’Ibernia. The countryside surrounding Cisternino is beautiful, green and full of trulli which can be admired from many panoramic spots.
