The Coast Line

The coast nearby Ostuni runs along the Adriatic See. It is approximately15 km long, with sand and rocky beaches. The coast between Torre Canne and Torre San Leonardo is an important naturalistic area considered Community Relevant from the E.U. Goin more south along the coast is situated Lido Morelli, another important regional protected area.
In the Carovigno territory is located Torre Pozzella, a beautiful and wild beach with an old Oriental Tower. At 17 km form Brindisi there is the Protect Natural Park of Torre Guaceto, very important from the scientific and the historic point of view. The name Guaceto has an Arabic origin and means “sweet water site”, because of the presence of the sweet water. The tower was built in 1531. The many findings in the area, dated back to the messapica and micenea edges, gives an idea of the historic importance of the area.
From the naturalistic point of view its importance is due to a wet climatic area composed mainly by cane plants, where is possible to watch a big variety of birds and old trees.
The protection applied to this part of coast aloud the preservation of the park in an effort to bring it to its original beauty.
